Keywords: automatic popcorn production line, industrial popcorn machine, caramel popcorn line, popcorn flavor coating system, snack food processing equipment, continuous popcorn popping line, food grade stainless steel popcorn machinery, CE standard popcorn manufacturing line Shanghai, China – TG Machine, a trusted Shanghai-based food machinery manufacturer with over four decades of experience delivering turnkey snack and confectionery production solutions worldwide, officially launches its upgraded fully automatic popcorn production line, designed to help snack factories scale consistent, high-yield popcorn production for global retail, cinema, convenience store and export markets. The new integrated line addresses long-standing pain points for popcorn producers, including unstable popping rates, uneven flavor coating, high labor dependency and inconsistent finished texture, offering a flexible, hygienic and cost-efficient turnkey solution for small, medium and large food manufacturers.
The global ready-to-eat popcorn market has maintained steady growth in recent years, driven by rising consumer demand for portable, indulgent snacks ranging from classic butter popcorn, sweet caramel popcorn, chocolate-coated popcorn to savory cheese, barbecue and spicy variants. Many traditional popcorn factories still rely on batch-only manual kettles, which struggle to keep pace with large order volumes, often resulting in batch-to-batch differences, burnt popcorn, uneven sugar coating and heavy reliance on skilled operators. TG Machine’s new popcorn line is engineered to close this gap, combining precise thermal control, continuous material transfer and programmable seasoning dosing to stabilize quality while cutting down operational costs significantly.
This popcorn production line adopts a modular design that can be customized according to customer target hourly capacity, available workshop space and product portfolio. Standard configurable output ranges from 80kg/h up to 300kg/h finished popcorn. The whole workflow follows a seamless continuous sequence: automatic corn kernel & ingredient feeding → precision oil/gas/electromagnetic popping → automatic tilting discharge → belt conveying → forced air cooling → rotary screening & impurity removal → flavor coating and mixing → secondary cooling → finished product buffer storage, which can be directly linked to multi-head weighing and automatic bagging machines for end-to-end packaging.
At the heart of the system is the industrial popping kettle with planetary stirring scraping structure. Unlike simple stirring blades, the stirring mechanism fully contacts the kettle bottom and side walls to avoid local overheating and burning. Operators set popping temperature, stirring speed and holding time on the central PLC touch screen; once the popping cycle finishes, the kettle tilts automatically to dump popcorn onto the conveyor without manual scooping. This design greatly reduces breakage of popped kernels and keeps product shape intact. Heating modes are optional: gas heating for regions with low gas cost, or electromagnetic induction heating for factories requiring clean, stable electric heating.
Immediately after popping, hot popcorn is transported to the forced air cooling conveyor. High-speed circulating airflow rapidly brings down the popcorn temperature, locking its crispy texture and preventing condensation before the seasoning stage. The rotary sifter then separates unpopped corn kernels, broken crumbs and undersized debris automatically. This screening step is critical: it rejects defective materials before flavoring, so every finished pack has uniform appearance and taste, lowering customer complaint rates for final packaged goods.
The flavor coating drum is another highlight of this solution. It supports both liquid syrup spraying for caramel, chocolate and honey popcorn, and dry powder seasoning feeding for savory tastes. Liquid sugar or oil is delivered by adjustable precision dosing pumps, while powder seasoning is fed quantitatively through a screw feeder. As popcorn gently tumbles inside the rotating drum, flavor materials distribute evenly across every piece, avoiding sticking and clumping common in traditional manual coating processes. For caramel popcorn orders, we can add an optional low-temperature curing tunnel to dry the sugar layer and make the surface non-sticky.
All parts that directly touch food are manufactured with 304 food-grade stainless steel, complying with CE and ISO22000 food hygiene standards. The line layout can be flexibly adjusted for straight, L-shaped or U-shaped installation to fit customers’ existing factory layouts. Compared with semi-automatic setups, the new automatic popcorn line cuts required on-site operators from 4–6 workers down to only 1–2 staff for monitoring and recipe adjustment. Recipe parameters for different popcorn flavors can be saved inside the control system; switching between butter, caramel and savory popcorn only needs one-click preset recall, shortening product changeover time.
Gia, International Sales Manager of TG Machine, commented: “We have observed that many overseas snack entrepreneurs want to expand popcorn product lines but hesitate because they cannot find a reliable, adaptable machine that works for both sweet coated and savory popcorn. Our new popcorn line is built for global markets: we support customized voltage, frequency and documentation for different countries, and we provide full after-sales support including factory FAT testing, overseas installation guidance, operation training and long-term spare parts supply. Whether our customer runs a local mid-sized snack factory or exports private-label popcorn to multiple countries, we can configure a suitable solution.”
TG Machine’s popcorn line is now available for factory inspection and on-site testing at its Shanghai workshop. Prospective buyers can send raw corn samples and target recipes to test popping effect, expansion rate and coating performance before order confirmation. The equipment can also be combined with TG Machine’s existing packaging, weighing and sorting systems to build a fully closed popcorn production workshop.
